Talents ready to light up Black Lake season two
Some of Sweden’s best young acting talents are set to make waves in ‘Black Lake’ when NENT Group’s hit thriller series returns to Viaplay and TV3 in autumn 2018.
A freestanding prequel to the original ‘Black Lake’ (Swedish: ‘Svartsjön), season two stars Filip Berg (‘Black Lake’ season one); Hedda Stiernstedt (’The Restaurant’); Alida Morberg (‘Sensoria’); André Eriksen (‘Vikings’); Bahar Pars (‘A Man Called Ove’); David Nzinga (NENT Group’s ‘Hassel’); Esther Uddén (‘Finaste familjen’); Anja Landgré (‘Nina Frisk’); and Daniel Larsson (the ‘Johan Falk’ series).
The series opens with Johan Ceder (Filip Berg) checking into a drug rehabilitation centre in the Stockholm archipelago as he struggles to free himself both from family expectations and the criminal underworld. But something on the island isn’t quite right – and it’s soon clear that in season two of ‘Black Lake’, the secrets are darker than ever.
‘Black Lake’ season two is produced by Lotta Westberg at Jarowskij from an original idea by Ulf Kvensler (‘The Restaurant’). Richard Jarnhed and Per Simonsson direct the eight-part series and co-write together with Lovisa Milles, Moa Herngren and Peter Lindblom.
Season one of ‘Black Lake’ was the most viewed series when first broadcast on NENT Group’s free-TV channel TV3 in autumn 2016 and is one of the most popular series on NENT Group’s video streaming service Viaplay. The first season reached international audiences on BBC Four and on AMC Networks-backed Shudder.
NENT Group has over 50 original projects already available or in the pipeline. ‘Rig 45’; ‘The Lawyer’; ‘Stella Blómkvist’; ‘ALEX’; ‘Couple Thinkers’; ‘Occupied’; ‘Hassel’; ‘Peppy Pals’; ‘Superswede’; ‘Veni Vidi Vici’; seasons one and two of ‘Swedish Dicks’; season one of ‘The Great Escape’; and season one of ‘Black Lake’ have already premiered. Recently commissioned originals include ‘The Inner Circle’; ‘Cold Courage’; season two of ‘The Great Escape’; ‘Those Who Kill’; ‘Four Hands Menu’; ‘Hidden’; ‘Wisting’; ‘Pros and Cons’; ‘Straight Forward’; and ‘Conspiracy of Silence’.
In addition to ‘Black Lake’, NENT Group’s originals are increasingly reaching global audiences. During 2017, ‘Veni Vidi Vici’ premiered on premium US streaming service Hulu; and ‘Swedish Dicks’ on Pop TV in the US.
