SDGs Commitment
To help address global challenges, Viaplay Group’s sustainability efforts are aligned with eight of the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Partnerships and collaborations
We aim to raise awareness of socially important issues and to support positive change through partnerships and collaborations. Viaplay Group participates in a range of industry networks and EU‑sponsored projects focused on climate action, environmental sustainability, and other topics relevant to the streaming sector and the wider media and entertainment industry. In addition, the Group engages in initiatives that promote a more equal, diverse, and inclusive society. We are members of a range of global partnerships, media industry associations, and national and international bodies.
Our sustainability focus areas
We want to promote sustainability on- and off-screen, highlight environmental issues, reflect societal changes and inspire audiences to reduce their impact on the environment.
We work with our peers to develop standardised methods for measuring the climate impact of productions and streaming. We also make disclosures following TCFD recommendations on climate-related financial risks.
We want our work with equality, diversity and inclusion to start with our people, shape our stories and touch our societies.
We are committed to being a workplace where people from all backgrounds can express themselves. We offer content that appeals to a broad and diverse audience, and that reflects a plurality of views and voices.
We conduct business responsibly and with integrity, and we expect our suppliers and partners to do the same.
We stand by the principles of freedom of expression, editorial independence and responsible content, and follow ethical sourcing and production practices.
Sustainability in productions, our content & streaming
Viaplay Group works with suppliers and industry organisations on initiatives to promote sustainable production practices, accurately measure and minimise the climate impacts of streaming, and strives to always be responsible with its content.
Sustainability governance at Viaplay Group is overseen by the Board of Directors, which is responsible for setting strategic direction and approving sustainability priorities and targets. Oversight of sustainability reporting is delegated to the Audit Committee and integrated into established governance and reporting processes. Responsibility for managing sustainability‑related impacts, risks, and opportunities sits with the Group Executive Team and the Head of Sustainability.
Sustainability performance is disclosed annually in an integrated Annual & Sustainability Report, reviewed and approved by the Board and independently assured by KPMG.
